Nursery - Extending Your Child's Stay

Shaw Cross Breakfast Club

We are unable to accept children who are not toilet trained and still in nappies.

We offer care to children in Nursery and school in the main school hall. From September 2021 the cost will be £4.50 per day, £22.50 per week, and we will open from 7.45 am every morning.

When you bring your child to the club, we ask that you sign them in so the staff will know they have arrived.   It would also be helpful if you let staff know when you are ready to leave.

Your child can then choose what to have for breakfast.  We offer a selection of cereals, toast and a variety of spreads e.g. jam and marmalade, milk and fruit juice.  We hope to encourage children to be independent in choosing and serving themselves, although our staff will be there to offer help where it is needed.  We are proud to hold the Kirklees Healthy Choice Gold Award. Breakfast is served until 8.30 am. If you arrive later than this you will need to ensure that your child has eaten at home beforehand.

A wide range of age appropriate play and creative activities are available to the children who enjoy coming to make and play with new friends.
Staff escort the children to Nursery at 8.30am and children in school to their classes at 8.50am. All Breakfast Club staff work as Educational Teaching Assistants for the rest of the school day.

All payments are dealt with by the school office.  Our preferred method of payment is by direct debit.  We ask that payments are made in advance of the session(s) attended.  We try to help parents/carers by accepting payments weekly, monthly or termly.  If payment is not made in the week attended, then places may be withdrawn.  Parents/carers are encouraged to speak to a member of staff at the earliest opportunity if they have any queries or if, for any reason, they are likely to have any difficulty in making a payment on time.  Childcare vouchers are also accepted – please speak to the school office staff if you would like to pay by this method.

If you child is unable to attend the club, you can inform staff by ringing the school  and leaving a message on the answerphone (01924 325319).  If a child is ill and the child care service is not used, then normal fees apply.  If holidays are taken during term-time then normal fees apply.  If school is closed during term-time due to unforeseen circumstances then no fee will be payable.

Finally, we do hope that you and your child enjoy using our Breakfast Club.  We want to make this a happy experience for your child at the start of the school day.
