    I went to York Races where I had a picnic whilst watching the horses racing.  We were in a big field so had lots of space to play with the ball.  I also went to Ilkley where we walked to the park which was at the side of the river.  I went on the slide and the swings.  There was also a little beach to play on but it was just pretend. Then we paddled in the river.

    I went to Sheffield and visited the city centre where I saw the fountains in the Peace Gardens and enjoyed looking at the flowers in the Winter Gardens.  I listened to the organ playing in St Maries Cathedral and also saw the Crucible Theatre where they play snooker.

    I went to the Leeds General Infirmary.  We played in the waiting room before going for an X-ray.  I saw a doctor.  The hospital was so big it was like a big maze.

    I went to Wakefield.  There is a big park with swings and duckponds.  There are lots of shops and restaurants in the town and a castle called Sandal Castle.

    I went to Leeds Bradford International Airport which is the largest airport in Yorkshire.  It was opened in October 1931 and was called Yeadon Aerodrome.  It is the highest airport in England and the most popular country to fly to is Spain.  I watched planes taking off and landing from lots of countries and had an ice cream at a nearby viewing area.  I also visited Yeadon Tarn where you can walk around the lake and feed the ducks and geese and play in the park.

    I went to Birstall with Mrs Winner and watched her take part in an exercise class called Spin.  Spin is a great way of keeping fit and staying healthy.  I made sure I took a bottle of water with me.  Mrs Winner worked very hard and had a well earned rest when she got home.

    I went to the supermarket, I sat in the trolley.  I went to Dewsbury swimming baths and had great fun watching people jumping in the water.  If you want to see under the water you can wear goggles.  I went to the playgy, the favourite part was playing on the trampoline as I could go really high.

    I went to Thornes Park in Wakefield where I played football and then ate ice cream.  I also watched somebody have their face painted at the May Day Gala.  I went on the Jumpy Castle too.

    Friday - I went to Apperley Bridge in Bradford to watch a football match.  Saturday - I went to Dewsbury to the shops and had fish and chips.  I then went to watch a horse riding lesson, the horse was called Bella.  Sunday - I went swimming at Dewsbury Baths.  Monday - I went to Oakwell Hall with my family.  I saw a lady getting married, she is called a bride on her wedding day.  Then we played football on a big field and went on a high slide and had ice cream.

    I travelled in the car to the shop to buy a birthday dard and present for a friend.  We put our seatbelts on in the car to keep us safe.  When we got to the party we played on a bouncy castle.  I had lots of fun with the other children who were playing on it.

    I had a nice walk by Digley Reservoir and up West Nab Moors.  It was very windy and I thought we were going to blow away!.  On our way back we saw the Tour de France Grand Depart.  Then we went and played at the park, then to Grandma's for Sunday dinner.  I was very tired after our fun day.

    Mrs Broadhead's Group Bear (Superadmin)

    I watched a rugby match.  It was very exciting.  On Saturday night we slept at Grandma's house and had a midnight feast.   Grandma is really nice and buys lots of treats. On Sunday morning we went to the shop and then visited Grandad's barge on the canal, the canal is extremely long and you can get all the way to Leeds and Liverpool.  We then went to the park and played on the swings.  On Sunday we all went camping in the back garden but we had a fire and raosted marshmallows.

    I went to Thornes Park where you can have a picnic, feed the ducks and play games.  James Milnes, a Wakefield Cloth Merchant, bought the land in 1778 and built Thornes House between 1779 to 1781.

    I went to Filey to stay in a caravan.  We went to the beach and in the sea and had a barbecue at the caravan.

    I went to Thirsk to stay in a caravan.  There is a park and a river.  There was a fancy seating area in the barn cafe.  There is also a massive field to play football.

    This week I had my very first swimming lesson.  I was learning basic skills and there were lots of other children learning to swim.

     I also went to Charlotte's Ice Cream Parlour where I saw lots of animals outside and then went inside where I chose yummy chocolate sprinkled ice cream.  There were lots of different ice cream flavours to choose from.  I sat in a chair that was shaped like an ice cream cone.

    I went to the National Mining Museum which is 6 miles from Dewsbury.  You can go underground and learn all about coal mining.  I travelled 140m underground and needed a torch and a hard hat.  The mine is hundreds of years old.   There is a museum, a coffee shop and a nature trail, you can also do arts and crafts there.

    I went to Mirfield where there are lots of shops.  I visited Mirfield Parish Church which was built over 100 years ago.  Brian Robson is a cyclist from Mirfield who was the first Briton to which a stage of the Tour de France.  Mirfield has a greenway where you can ride your bike.  You can also take a walk along the river.

    I went to Dewsbury and Morley.  There was a club which had a play area.  I went out for tea.

    I went to Dewsbury Sports Centre where I watched children having swimming lessons.  There are lots of activities at the Sports Centre such as judo and gymnastics.  There is a library next to the Sports Centre and there are many shops in the town centre.

    I visited Emley Moor Mast where I sat on a wall and looked at the transmitting tower and the beautiful views.  Emley Moor mast is 330.5 metres high and is taller than Blackpool Tower and The Post Office Tower.  It was first built in 1956 but in 1969 it collapsed.  No-one was hurt but the nearby church was damaged.

    I went to the White Rose Centre to Build-A-Bear.  I got given a tag so I didn't get muddled up with the other bears and found out how I was made!    At the White Rose you can shop and have lunch.

    It was May Day weekend and I was taken to Gawthorpe Maypole by Mrs Carbutt and her daughter.  We saw lots of beautiful floats and watched the dancing round the Maypole.

    I went to Yorkshire Sculpture Park and had a great time looking at the different sculptures.  I found some sculptures made by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore who are both famous sculptors from Yorkshire.  When I was walking round I saw lots of baby lambs who have been born because it is springtime.  I also went to the cafe andhad juice, biscuits and an ice-cream.

    I went to the Caravan Park in Hornsea, East Yorkshire.  I went to the park and also to the golf course.  After that I went to the club to watch the horse racing and then watched the Jungle Book Show.

    I went shopping to the supermarket and looked for 'Yorkshire' things.  I found Yorkshire tea, a book and Yorkshire Puddings!  Then we went to the Sports Centre where I played football and went swimming.  I also went for a walk in the park and played on the swings and seesaw.

    I had a very busy day today.  I went shopping, had my dinner and went dancing.  When I got home I went on a bike ride and had lots of fun.

    In the school holidays I had an exciting time at Yorkshire Television where I visited the set of Emmerdale and sat on the comfortable sofas at the Calendar studios.

    I went to Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire.  I had a great day on the Gruffalo Forest Trail where I followed sign and there were different activities to do along the way.

    In the holidays I did lots of exciting things.  I went to the Northern Ballet in Leeds where I watched a dancing course.  In Leeds there are lots of shops and a theatre.

    In Filey you can play on the beach and have fish and chips.  Filey has a bird garden and an animal park.

    In Scarborough you can play on the beach and in the arcades.  There is a harbour with lots of fishing boats.

    In York there is an old church called York Minster, it also has a Railway Museum.  York has a shopping mall and play area.

    In the holidays I went to Whitby.  Whitby has an abbey and is a fishng town.  You can swim in the sea and you can build sandcastles

    In the holidays I went Oakwell Hall, we played football on one of the big fields and climbed trees in the woods. I went to see the pond and played in the park. Lots of people go there to enjoy the outdoors.

    This weekI visited Patley Bridge in North Yorkshire. I visited the oldest sweet shop and went climbing at Brimham rocks. There was a river nearby and a park to play in.

    This holiday I visited Dewsbury Museum, in Crow Nest Park. There are lots of things to do there like dressing up, make a puppet show and look at things from all over the world.

    This weekend end I travelled to north Yorkshire and stayed in a village called Sessay. There is lots of beautiful scenery nearby including the Howardian Hills and The White Horse of Kilburn, a figure cut into the hillside in 1857.

    This weekend I went to Tropical World in Leeds. There are lots of animals and minibeasts to see like butterflies, Meerkats and fish. You can walk around the butterfly house and they fly all around the room, sometimes they might even land on you!

    This weekend I went to a soft play gym called 'Go Hyper' in Dewsbury. There are ball pools, climbing frames and slides to explore. You can have your lunch in the cafe, meet new friends or have your birthday party there.

    I went to Thornes Park in Wakefield this weekend, you can play lots of sports, feed the ducks and play on the playground while you are there. There was a fun run for Wakefield Hospice while we were there and a mascot race which was won by the Castleford Tiger.

    I went to Dewsbury park and played on the swings and slide. I also went to Tropical World in Leeds, we saw butterflies, moths, bats and even a crocodile! We learned lots about the different animals and went to the shop and cafe.

    I went to Dewsbury shopping centre; the supermarket is very busy and has lots of food you can buy. We went to the park and played on the swings, there is also a big field you can run on.

    I went shopping in Leeds city centre; we had dinner at McDonalds and walked to the train station. Leeds is a very busy place with lots of shops; we saw lots of statues and the flags for the Tour De France.

    I went to Batley park and played in the play area, we walked around the park and fed the ducks. It is a big park with lots of different things to do. You can walk in the woodland area and visit the museum where you can look at interesting things. Sometimes bring little boats and let them sail on the pond with the ducks.

    I went to Charlotte's ice cream parlour, there are goats, hens birds and donkey's to look at there. We played crazy golf and had an ice cream in a special yellow 'tour de yorkshire' cone. We also went to Batley Park; we played on the playground, walked through the woods and looked at the 'big house' museum.

    I went to visit St Mary's Church in Mirfield and then went on a bike ride around Pugney's Water Park. The church was a very old building with lots of trees surrounding it. Pugney's has a huge lake that you can bike or walk around and there are also boats you can hire to sail on it. My favourite thing about Pugney's was the ice cream van which served lovely ice cream.

    The Travelling Teddies have been to some wonderful locations already and are learning lots about the history of Yorkshire as well as how the different places look!! Thank you to the children who have looked after the teddies so far!!!  I am sure that people reading the blog will want to visit some of these places for themselves.

    Miss King's class bear (Superadmin)

    This weekend I have been to Sandal Castle and Pugneys Lake. You can walk or ride around the lake and explore the castle ruins. There are lots of watersports you can do on the lake. Yorkshire won a battle against Lancashire at Sandal castle in 1460; it was called 'The Battle of Wakefield'. It is very hilly near the castle but flat land around the lake, there is a nature reserve for birds.

    This weekend I went to Oakwell Hall and Country Park . There are lots of nature trails and walks around the grounds, people take their dogs and their are playgrounds for children to explore. Oakwell Hall is very old, it was built in 1583. A famous writer called Charlotte Bronte stayed there 1830. Films have been made there and you can also get married at the Hall.

    This weekend I went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We had a lovely walk, looking at the sculptures and discovering different plants and flowers. There are lots of interesting sculptures by famous artists including some by Barbara Hepworth who was born in Wakefield.

    This weekend I went to Horbury. Horbury is famous for the song 'Onward Christian Soldiers' which was written there in 1800. There is an old railway stockyard and a lock up that used to be the prison; Horbury has a summer fayre every June.

    This weekend I went to Gomersal. There is a museum in Gomersal and a library in the church. It is good to visit the Town Hall at Christmas to watch the pantomime.

    This weekend I went to Cleakheaton with Libby for her great nan's 80th birthday party. Cleakheaton is a little mill town with lots of shops and buildings, we went to the cricket club and played on the green.

    At the weekend I went to Hemsworth Water Park. There are lots of mini waterfalls and streams that lead into the lake. People go there to fish in the lakes, look at the wildlife and play on the beach or adventure playground.
